       Joni Void (a.k.a Jean Cousin) makes music in a very non conventional sense, for the most part there are no lyrics to these songs just vocal noises along with electronic ticks at odd intervals. It is similar to the music of Solex or Juana Molina, but less melody or traditional structure involved. With music like this, in my opinion, it can be put into the category of ambient background music (“Lov Ender”, “Non Dit”) or music that engages on an emotional level, beyond mere language (“Resolve”, “Voix Sans Issue”, the lovely “Abusers”). As much as i love some of this, there are songs that seem to be there mainly to annoy or squeal high pitched sounds at us only a dog could hear (“No Reply”, opener “Paradox”). It is interesting, but not very engaging.
